Floyd Mayweather Jr Talks Conor McGregor On Showtime

Floyd Mayweather Jr Talks Conor McGregor – The Sam’s Town Hotel in Las Vegas on Friday night saw Leonard Ellerbe and Mayweather Promotions host a nine fight boxing card that had the main events airing on Showtime.
During the preliminary fights, Showtime’s Steve Farhood did a brief sitdown interview with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The former #1 pound for pound fighter in the world was relaxed as he talked about having his promoter’s hat on and the pair discussed the evening’s upcoming match-ups. The conversation inevitably steered itself toward the rumored Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather Jr superfight and once again, Mayweather did nothing but add to the speculation that the fight could potentially happen.
“My focus now, the only guy I am thinking about right now from a business standpoint, is Conor McGregor,” he said. Floyd stated that nothing is signed and that no numbers have been mentioned and no venue is set, but when it came down to it, he appears to be very interested in making the fight happen.
Mayweather appeared confident that the bout would be in a ring and would be a conventional boxing match, commenting that McGregor is predominantly a standup fighter in MMA.
When Farhood, a veteran boxing talking head who knows next to nothing about MMA, belittled the idea of Mayweather fighting a Mixed Martial Artist, Mayweather responded by giving McGregor his props, calling him dangerous and someone not to be underestimated.
Later on, when Mayweather was asked a percentage chance of the fight happening, he said “I am my own boss, I don’t know what Conor McGregor can do, but if the fans want to see the fight I am confident we can make it happen.”
So it appears that the only thing standing in the way is UFC President Dana White, who does speak for McGregor contractually. Surely, more to come on this potential blockbuster.
