Eye on the Heavyweights – Fury vs Klitschko 2 Moving To October

Fury vs Klitschko 2 – The heavyweight division received a blow earlier today as news is breaking out of England that heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has sustained an ankle injury and that his re-match with Wladimir Klitschko is being postponed until October.
Peter Fury, uncle and trainer of Tyson Fury, has “tweeted” pictures of Fury’s ankle with a set of crutches off to the side.
The injury to Fury serves to highlight the chaos that is the heavyweight division as we approach the midway point of 2016.The pair first met in November of 2015, when Fury won a unanimous decision to hand Klitschko his first defeat in a decade. Now, it will be almost a year between fights for both men.
In his typical fashion, Fury has dominated the rhetoric in the build-up to the second bout, originally scheduled for July 9th in Manchester. All reports from the Klitschko camp state that the former champion is more resolute than he has been in a long time. Klitschko, who turned 40 earlier this year, has managed to avoid the injury bug so far this training camp.
The Fury camp has proven to be masters of media manipulation, so you never know what could be pre-fight subterfuge coming from Fury. There had been reports of disagreements within the camp, as well as questions regarding Fury’s hunger now that he is champion. Fury appeared fat during a round of press conferences building up to the fight and he himself has talked about retirement due to a lack of motivation.
No word from promoter Hennessy Sports as to whether the July 9th event at the Manchester Arena will go on, but WBO world lightweight champion Terry Flanagan (30-0) is also scheduled to defend against Mzonke Fana (38-9) and that fight could be bumped up to main event status.
The Fury versus Klitschko 2 match will remain in Manchester, however an exact date was not set in the first wave of communications. Expectations are that an exact day will be settled upon quickly, possibly by later this week.
