Matchroom vs Top Rank – TnS Boxing Podcast #33

Matchroom vs Top Rank – TnS Boxing Podcast #33 – As we close out calendar year 2016, the top two promotional companies in boxing today appear to be England’s Matchroom Boxing and the USA’s Top Rank, especially when you consider the attention both companies have devoted to expanding their international assets this past year.
Both groups are led by energetic promoters, but the comparison ends there. Matchroom is run by 37-year-old second generation promoter Eddie Hearn while Top Rank has long been guided by Bob Arum, who at age 85 still has his hands on every level of the Top Rank operation.
Coming on the tail end of a year where Eddie Hearn won the TSS Promoter of the Year and Arum the TSS Personality of the Year, it seems like a good time to take a look at both companies as they gear up for the new year. Both rosters are strong and poised to display their talent to an international audience, with Hearn having a strong concentration in the heavyweight division and Arum apparently emphasizing variety. Much, much more is discussed, including such subjects as the matchmaking styles of both promoters and who is in a better position to deliver the biggest fights as we head into the new year. Listen to our two experts break down the two groups right here in the latest edition of the TalknShoot Boxing Podcast.
