Hot Prospects on Display in Back-to-Back SoCal Fight Cards

The San Fernando Valley heats up again this weekend as Bash Entertainment brings back-to-back fight cards.

A pair of super featherweights headline the card on Friday April 20, at the Marriott Burbank Hotel in Burbank, California. Jarret Jeter (7-2-1) meets Samuel Yniquez (5-6-4) in the main event. It will not be televised.

Both Jeter and Yniquez had engaged in many close encounters with others that resulted in majority decisions or draws. It’s a good match up and should prove entertaining.

Jeter, 24, fights out of Long Beach, Calif. and has spent the last two years battling with super featherweights that resulted in split decisions or draws. Almost every fight results in debate. This fight looks to be another spirited clash as Yniguez has the same problem.

Yniguez, 31, has a long history of matchups that resulted in draws or majority decisions. However, in his last bout he stopped an undefeated fighter by knockout. It was his first ever kayo. That raises the question: what’s changed in his attack?

It’s a six round affair and should prove to be interesting.

Local fighter Damien Lopez (4-0-1, 2 KOs) meets Rodolfo Gamez (2-4) in a six round super welterweight contest.

Lopez, 22, is a strong kid who is learning the game and has shown mental toughness in the ring. He fights out of Burbank so he should have strong support when the fight takes place. He has power but is still learning how to time his opponents.

Gamez, 30, fights out of Tucson, Arizona. One thing about those fighters from Tucson is their ability to fight it out. They won’t quit. Gamez shot down a previously undefeated fighter by knockout this past February.

Lopez and Gamez will not be lacking action.

In a welterweight showdown between young undefeated prospects Colombia’s Jhon Leon (3-0, 2 KOs) meets Kazakhstan’s Sagadat Rakhmankulov (1-0, 1 KO) in a six round contest.

Rakhmankulov, 24, fought a veteran of 14 fights and won by technical knockout in Reno last February. He’s training in Oxnard.

The 24-year-old Leon (pictured) has taken out two undefeated fighters in his young career including a decision win over talented Angel Bojado a year ago. His other two wins were via knockout. This fight should be very interesting. The winner will definitely be someone of interest for major fight cards.

Both Rakhmankulov and Leon are from other countries so they don’t get the opportunity to pick easy opponents. For them its ready, set, go.

Other Bouts

Salvador Perez (4-0, 4 KOs) a hard-hitting Southern Californian faces the always tough Nam Phan (3-5-1) in a six round welterweight clash. Perez, 23, meets a rock chinned fighter in Phan who lost his last fight by knockout for the first time in 11 years. Was it a fluke or has time eroded one of the hardest chins in the business?

Humberto Velasquez (6-0-2) meets Jesus Cruz Bibiano (16-13) in a six round welterweight match.

Local fighter Rudy Garcia (6-0) fights Houston’s Josue Morales (5-6-3) in a six round featherweight bout.

Several other bouts are planned.
