360 Promotions Fight Results from Montebello, California

MONTEBELLO — Daylight Saving’s time did few of the fighters any favors in a night filled with early knockouts on St. Patrick’s Day.

The lights were turned out early for many pugilists entering 360 Boxing Promotions fight card at the Quiet Cannon Events Center on Thursday, March 17.

In one co-main event, Cem Kilic (16-1, 11 KOs) stormed past Kansas fighter Tony Hernandez (6-13-2) with a strong attack that floored the visitor in the first round.

Hernandez circled toward his left to stay off the firing line and fought defensively, but it was not enough to confuse Kilic (pictured in the red trunks) who attacked with little regard for defense. A few jabs were not enough to stall Kilic from flooring the Kansas fighter with a left and right in the first round. Hernandez survived.

In the second round Kilic stepped up the tempo and though Hernandez tried staying out of the firing line, he was hit with a body shot and then a combination that floored the Kansas fighter again. This time referee Raul Caiz Jr. stopped the fight at 2:51 of the second round to give Kilic the win by technical knockout.

A super featherweight clash between stylish fighters Adrian Corona (9-0-1) and San Diego’s Joe Perez (15-6-3) ended in a majority draw after six back and forth rounds.

Corona was the aggressor throughout, but Perez was a tough nut to crack, especially with a jab he used repeatedly to keep from being overrun. In every round Corona seemed to be the harder puncher but Perez’s jabs and counters kept each round razor close. After six back-and-forth rounds the judges scored the fight 58-56 Corona and 57-57 twice for a majority draw.

Ireland’s Callum Walsh (2-0) erupted at the sound of the first bell with a dozen blows to knock out Mexico’s Gael Ibarra (5-7) at 33 seconds of the first round.

So much for the co-main event.

Walsh shrugged as he was announced the winner by knockout.

Other Bouts

Marco Deckmann (8-1, 7 KOs) softened up Mexico’s Victor Fonseca (18-11-1) with several body shots then unloaded a four-punch combination to the head that forced the Tijuana fighter to slump to the floor. Referee Ed Hernandez stopped the fight at 2:42 of the fourth round of the cruiserweight fight. Deckmann is trained by Freddie Roach.

In another likety-split contest, Eric Priest (7-0, 5 KOs) unloaded a dozen blows in rapid fashion on Pomona’s David Lopez (4-3), and after a few head-banging blows, the fight was stopped at 19 seconds of the first round of the super middleweight clash.

East L.A.’s Omar Trinidad (7-0-1) figured out southpaw Ivan Varela (5-4) by discovering the effectiveness of the uppercut. He just couldn’t seem to miss with that punch and it opened up the door for other modes of attack. Though Varela was able to survive, Trinidad used his strength to win by unanimous decision after six rounds in a featherweight fight.

An amateur showdown between featherweights saw Chantel Navarro outhustle Shavana Trejo to win by unanimous decision after three rounds. Trejo started fast with solid right hook counters. But the southpaw stayed in a defensive counter-punch style and Navarro simply out-worked her with lead rights down the pipe and combination punching.
