Tyson Fury Trilogy Announced Against Derek Chisora. True or False?

Tyson-Fury-Trilogy-Announced-Against-Derek-Chisora-True-or-False?

It is difficult to give full credibility to the words of the British behemoth Tyson Fury. The WBC heavyweight champion makes so many claims that it is truly difficult to take him seriously.

Now “The Gypsy King” affirmed that his next rival will not be Anthony “AJ” Joshua, whom he has hurled multiple insults to. Nor will he face the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, holder of three world titles. There was also talk of Fury facing the Lebanese Mahmoud Charr, who is based in Germany.

“I’ve decided to come back to boxing because I can be the first heavyweight world champion in history to have two trilogies,’ Fury said in August to ESPN. “I’d always say I’d fight Derek Chisora at the end of my career.”

Previously, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder faced each other in the ring three times. The first fight in 2018 was ruled a draw, with Fury victorious in the second and third matches in 2020 and 2021.

Over the past few weeks, Fury has “raised the hornet’s nest” of his followers on social media with impressive frequency. After anesthetizing Jamaican Dillian White in the sixth round last April, “The Gypsy King” expressed, once again, that his career was over.

Only a few days later, Fury retracted his statement and put his countryman and former world champion “AJ” Joshua in the spotlight, calling him out to fight and giving him a time limit to respond. A contract was never signed.

In the most recent chapters of this ongoing novel, Fury did not confirm that a contract with Chisora had been finalized, although he did hint that the opponent and the terms of his next fight will be announced in a few days.

“I don’t think anything has been signed yet but we’re about to announce next week,”

Fury told Seconds Out. “There will be an announcement next week of an opponent.

I think we have four or five different guys who are in the hat, in the running right now, and one will be selected next week and then it will be on like Donkey Kong on December 3rd.”

FRANK WARREN UNVEILS THE MYSTERY

Despite Fury’s vagueness, his promoter Frank Warren revealed in great detail that Fury will face Derek Chisora (33-12-0, 23 KOs) for the third time in December.

Pertaining to the negotiations of the Fury-Joshua bout, Warren, 70, stated “The basis of the deal, 90 percent of what counts in the deal it is okay, and the other 10 percent we have to sort out.” Unfortunately, negotiations dissolved after three to four weeks, leaving Fury struggling to find an opponent.

“We’ve been struggling to get an opponent, but we’ve got the highest-ranked opponent which is Derek Chisora. That’s where we’ll be going and that’ll be on December 3. We were just trying to find someone, and it’s been very difficult. What it’s all about is that Tyson will have had one fight in a year, and we always expected the fight in December would have been Usyk, but Usyk wasn’t available.

“I actually think Derek may even end up giving a better fight than AJ [would]. I’m not being disrespectful to [Joshua], I just think he’s more vulnerable. [Chisora] is a warrior, isn’t he? He’s gonna keep trying and he’s gonna give all he’s got. Anything can happen in boxing.”

FURY HAS TWO WINS AGAINST CHISORA

Although Fury and Warren praise Chisora, the Londoner, nicknamed “War,” is not really a rival that meets the expectations of the fans, not like Joshua, with his huge fanbase, or Usyk who currently holds three of the four titles (WBO, IBF and WBA).

Chisora, 38, born in the city of Mbare, in Zimbabwe and living in Finchley, London, defeated the Bulgarian Kubrat “La Cobra” Pulev by split decision, on July 9th in the 02 Arena. Before that bout, he suffered three consecutive losses, two of them against New Zealander Joseph Parker last year, and the other against Usyk in 2020.

Chisora fought Fury on a couple of occasions. In the first match on July 23, 2011, at Wembley Stadium, the African fell by unanimous decision. The British heavyweight title was on the line.

Three years later, on November 29, 2014, Chisora succumbed again to Fury, but this time he was unable to continue. After the conclusion of the tenth round, his corner threw in the towel to prevent the beating from continuing. They were fighting for the British, European WBO belts.
