The Sweet Science Rankings: Week of July 9, 2023

In a week that promised to re-organise the top of the 147lb division, we were instead greeted with disappointment as the Eimantas Stanionis-Vergil Ortiz fight fell through at the last minute.  Ortiz, who seemed to struggle desperately with the division’s weight limit, is almost certain to depart for 154lbs and so has been removed from the 147lb rankings.  Stanionis, inactive for fifteen months, is also removed.  This makes room for Lithuanian Egidijus Kavaliauskas at #10 and Senegal’s Souleymane Cissokho at #8, the two newcomers bracketing Roiman Villa who drops to #9 after losing out to new #3, Jaron Ennis (pictured).  Everyone below Ennis gets bumped up the list.  The only other division to see change is 175lbs, where Craig Richards (England) approaches 14 months of inactivity with no fight slated and is replaced by the returning Michael Eifert, out of Germany.
