Smith was coming off a split decision loss to Carlos Molina for the IBF World Light Middleweight title on September 14, 2013.
Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara
The 31 year old Erislandy Lara stands at five feet nine inches tall with a reach of 75 inches and fights from a southpaw stance. Lara is a native of Cuba but now resides in Houston, TX. He is ranked first among Cuban boxers and second in the world. Erislandy has a career record of 19 wins, two losses and two draws. Out of his 19 wins a total of 12 have come by knockout. Lara has never suffered a knockout loss.
Lara is coming off a split decision loss to Saul Alvarez in a 12 round bout that took place on July 12, 2014 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Prior to that Lara scored a unanimous decision win over Austin Trout in a 12 round bout that took place on December 7, 2013 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
