Jim Lampley Takes Over B.A.D From Bob Papa
Jim Lampley’s month just got a whole lot busier.
Beginning with Saturday’s Boxing After Dark doubleheader from Montreal’s Bell Centre (10 p.m. ET/PT), Lampley will assume the blow-by-blow duties for the late-night boxing series. Lampley is set to call all three Boxing After Dark events this month (June 8, 15 & 29) on HBO.This will be in addition to Jim’s host role on World Championship Boxing, HBO Pay-Per-View andThe Fight Game news and interview program.
Bob Papa, who joined HBO Sports in 2007, is relinquishing the play-by-play role on Boxing After Dark. Earlier this year, Papa’s broadcast role with the Golf Channel was expanded and the emergence of date conflicts made the juggling of schedules impractical.Bob will remain connected to the HBO family so we can call on him in situations such as a split-site doubleheader when two broadcast teams are needed.
