Golovkin-Rubio Numbers Are Out; 1,304,000 Watched Live
The Golovkin was against released, and Marco Antonio Rubio was the latest victim to be swallowed up by the beastly talent from Kazahkstan, on Saturday night in Carson, CA, and on HBO. Now, the numbers have been released as well, and a source tells us the Nielsens are having the suits at HBO feeling satisfied.
Golovkin’s 18th straight KO attracted 1,304,000 viewers to the live, first time airing on the premium cabler. That number makes it the second best performing scrap on cable TV this year. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Brian Vera’s rematch drew 1,390,000 viewers, back in March.
HBO has put on 13 of the 15 top performers on cable this year, and this outing represents a 33% jump for Triple G from his last outing, against Daniel Geale.
