BoxNation Does Deal With Golden Boy
LONDON (March 28) – Golden Boy Promotions and BoxNation announced a long-term output deal today, which will begin on April 21 with a double world-title show featuring Abner Mares vs. Erik Morel for the vacant WBC World Super Bantamweight World title and the WBA Bantamweight Super World Championship title fight between Anselmo Moreno and David de la Mora from El Paso, Texas, followed on April 28 with Bernard Hopkins' rematch against Chad Dawson for the WBC Light Heavyweight World Championship from Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The deal will allow U.K. boxing fans to see Golden Boy Promotions' fights televised on BoxNation, Channel 456 on Sky and 546 on Virgin. There will be two live shows per month which will include one major HBO or Showtime event and one other televised event from another Golden Boy series.
BoxNation will also travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to televise the May 5 mega-fight between the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, Floyd Mayweather, and current WBA Super Welterweight World Champion Miguel Cotto. The May 5 card also features Mexico's boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez who will defend his WBC Super Welterweight World title against former Six-Time World Champion Sugar Shane Mosley.
Established in 2002 by former Ten-Time World Champion Oscar de la Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions has become one of the world's most active and respected promoters with a top roster of talent.
Since launching last September, BoxNation, the UK's only fight dedicated channel, has televised 34 live shows from the UK and abroad that includes:
