Seems Like No Cotto-Canelo Winner For GGG, So…
So many 3G fans are in a state of mourning, or, at least, minor depression.
Miguel Cotto has been sending signals and outright stating that he’s focused on beating Canelo, and then trying to get a rematch with Mayweather.
Canelo Alvarez has said he’s in no rush to leave junior middleweight, or junior middleweight plus…and we can infer that even if he beats Cotto, he won’t be taking on the Golovkin challenge in his next fight.
I wondered how Golovkin trainer Abel Sanchez is feeling. Over the last year plus, he’s been at times a tad irked that the sports’ A grade types haven’t looked to step up to the the plate, wanted to go to 160 and topple this middleweight king. But today, Sanchez seemed in an accepting mode. “I never really thought either would fight Triple G next…maybe in the future Canelo might,” he said.
So…seems like you kept your expectations low?”
Realist!” he replied.
So, not angry then? “I am focused on my guys’ having fight dates…all those other things work themselves out for the best, for their careers and for boxing,” he said.
