Hopkins Turns 50 Jan. 15, Big Pahty Is Jan. 19
A 50th Birthday Celebration for
Bernard Hopkins at Parx Casino® on Jan. 19
Plus, the Live Weigh-In at 360 for Tuesday Night Boxing
PENNSYLVANIA – January 12, 2015 – On Monday, January 19th, Parx Casino® will host a 50th birthday celebration for boxing legend Bernard Hopkins, along with the live weigh-ins for Tuesday Night Boxing, which takes place the following night at 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia.
The celebration at 360 inside Parx Casino® begins at 5:30 p.m. for invited VIP guests. Hopkins, a former middleweight and light heavyweight champion and future hall of famer, will join the guests at 6 p.m. The free event will then open to the public at 6:30 p.m.You can gain access to 360 through the main or west entrances at Parx Casino.
At 6:45 p.m, famed comedian Joe Conklin will introduce Hopkins to the 360 stage where Hopkins will deliver brief remarks and be serenaded by the crowd singing “Happy Birthday” to the champ.
At 7 p.m., all fighters competing in Tuesday Night Boxing, including the main event – Philadelphia featherweight Eric Hunter (18-3, 9 KOs) and Rene Alvarado (21-3, 15 KOs) of Nicaragua – will take the 360 stage for the event’s official weigh-in, which will include Hopkins and officials from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.
Hopkins, fresh from his hard-fought, 12-round title fight with Sergey Kovalev on November 8, turns 50 on January 15. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the celebration continues when Golden Boy Promotions and Joe Hand Promotions present a night of boxing for the champ at 2300 Arena located at 2300 S. Swanson Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19148. This special Golden Boy Live! installment will air nationally on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes.
