Top Rank Signs Young Gun Brazilian Silva
TOP RANK SIGNS UNBEATEN WILLIAM SILVA OF BRAZIL
Las Vegas – William Silva, a tough, rugged undefeated lightweight contender from Brazil, h as signed with Top Rank. He has been training at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas and will be action on Top Rank’s Solo Boxeo Tecate – UniMas card this Saturday, July 25 at The Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, Califo rnia.
Silva, from Sao Paulo, has a record of 21-0, 12 KOs. He is handled by Adriano Dos-Santos and trained by his father Alvisio Silva and Gabriel Oliveira
“We expect big things from Silva in the lightweight division,” said Brad Goodman, Top Rank matchmaker. “With Silva and Esquiva Falcao we expect big things in boxing in Brazil.”
Silva is 28 and ready for big fights. He is called ‘Baby Face’ in Brazil. Silva is a former WBO Latin American lightweight champion and a former Brazilian featherweight champion. As an amateur he was a gold medalist in the 2004 South American Junior Championships as a featherweight. In 2005 Silva was a bronze medalist as a featherweight at the Jose Cheo Aponte Tournament.
On Saturday, Silva will take on Adam Mate, 15-4, 9 KOs, of Budapest in a lightweight bout which is scheduled for eight rounds.
