Showtime Boxing Hits The Desert Jan 22
Showtime Boxing Hits The Desert – This coming Friday January 22nd at the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona sees a full seven fight boxing card that where the main events air on Showtime as part of their series “SHOBOX: The New Generation”. The New Generation series was created to seek out new talents and the show airs at 8PM Pacific Time in the United States.
The main event sees undefeated middleweight Rob Brant (18-0) taking on Decarlo Perez (15-3-1) for the vacant WBA North American title. For Brant, this is his third appearance on Showtime and the 25 year old out of Saint Paul, Minnesota is expected to stay undefeated and continue his climb up the rankings. Decarlo however, is a veteran who lost a narrow split decision to well-regarded Willy Campfort back in January of 2014 and he has won four fights in a row since.
Also vying for a vacant WBA North American title are heavyweights Jarrell Miller (15-0-1) and Donovan Dennis (12-2). Miller is a massive Heavyweight who weighed in over 280 lbs for his October 23rd, 2015 fight against Akhror Muralimov (16-1) which aired on Showtime and saw Miller win by KO in round three. Dennis is more of the small and sleek variety of heavyweight, usually weighing in the neighborhood of 220 lbs.
The card also features Lightweight action as the WBC’s United States Champion Demond Brock (10-3) faces Samuel Teah (7-1) in an eight round bout with his belt on the line. Brock won the vacant belt last November with a unanimous decision win over Oscar Valenzuela (9-1-1), and this will be Brock’s first Showtime appearance. For Teah, this is his third appearance on the network, but this is just his second bout scheduled for eight rounds.
