Errol Spence Jr vs Chris Algieri – The Barclays Center will host boxing on April 16^th as the Premier Boxing Champions will present a card headlined by Errol Spence Jr (19-0) as he takes on Chris Algieri (21-2). The main events of the evening are set to air on NBC

As a native New Yorker, Algieri will be fighting at home and the last two years have seen him keep a level of competition that is much higher than what Spence has faced. Spence Jr versus Chris Algieri has been announced as the main event of the show, so this is his step up into the headline fights of a very big show.

Spence, the former Olympian, is considered one of the brightest prospects in the welterweight division. His last fight, when he knocked out Alejandro Barrera (28-2) in the 5^th round, was his first match that was scheduled for 12 rounds. Algieri is going to be considered a marked step up in competition for Spence, but he should enter the fight a betting favorite at the sport books.

The second bout announced for the card sees WBO World Cruiserweight champion Krzystof Glowacki (25-0) defend his belt against former world champion Steve Cunningham (28-7-1).

Glowacki is undefeated and he is coming off a war with Marco Huck last August that saw him emerge with the WBO Cruiserweight title and the #1 ranking in the weight class with the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.

As for Cunningham, he returns to the cruiserweight division after a hard luck run at Heavyweight that saw him go 3-3-1 officially. His last outing saw him earn a draw with Antonio Tarver. Though Tarver has subsequently tested positive for PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs) and is under suspension by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, the draw has not been changed to a no contest. Now 39 years old, Cunningham returns to the weight class where he has held the IBF title on two separate occasions.

Look for more details on the card to come together in the coming days, but with a venue like the Barclays Center and the slot on NBC television in the United States, you should expect the announcement of additional quality fights.
