Ukraine’s Serhii Bohachuk and Ireland’s Callum Walsh Win by KO in Montebello

Super welterweights led the charge as Ukraine’s Serhii Bohachuk did what 21 others could not do in knocking out Aaron Coley and Ireland’s Callum Walsh followed the knockout pattern on Thursday.

Bohachuk (21-1, 21 KOs) showed the sold-out crowd at Quiet Cannon that Coley (16-5-1, 7 KOs) could indeed by stopped at the Hollywood Fight Night card presented by 360 Promotions. The Ukrainian fighter now holds the WBC Continental America’s title.

Because of the Russian War, the Ukrainian super welterweight had not fought in more than a year and subsequently lost his top 20 rankings. His country urged him to return to the prize ring and Bohachuk resumed his knockout ways and this time against the never-before-stopped Coley.

After Coley started fast in the first round Bohachuk quickly caught the bug and began finding the range. In the second round both exchanged with Coley snapping back Bohachuk’s head back with a long left cross.

Bad idea.

Bohachuk seemed to catch fire after absorbing a Coley punch and the fire was lit. A right cross and left hook delivered Coley to the ground and while referee Tom Taylor began the count he looked into the fighter’s eyes and stopped at fight at 1:54 of the second round.

It was Bohachuk’s 21^st knockout in 21 wins.

Callum Walsh wins

Ireland’s 21-year-old Callum Walsh (5-0, 4 KOs) eagerly attacked Las Vegas super welterweight Delen Parsley (13-2, 4 KOs) and needed less than four rounds to win by knockout.

Walsh displayed his superior hand speed and agile movement to maneuver the taller Parsley into the firing zone. Walsh was able to deliver Parsley to the canvas in the first, second and third rounds.

Parsley tried to fire in-between Walsh short combinations but instead found himself looking up. The final knockout was scored by a feint right jab and then a left cross. Parsley was counted out at 2:26 of the third round.

“I want to give people a knockout,” said Walsh who has a big fan in UFC honcho Dana White. “I’m 21 years old and I’m hungry. I’m ready for anything.”

Other Bouts

A featherweight battle saw East L.A.’s Omar Trinidad (10-0-1, 8 KOs) win by knockout over Jose Garcia (13-3-3) in the second round. Two left uppercuts in a six-punch combination by Trinidad wobbled Garcia and forced referee Tom Taylor to stop the fight at 1:12 of the second round.

Super flyweights Daniel Barrera (1-0-1) and Isaac Anguiano (3-1-1) fought to a majority draw after four rounds in a spirited contest.

Super lightweights David Romero (2-0-1) and Michael De La Cruz (1-1-2) fought to a split draw after four rounds.

A female flyweight match saw Gloria Munguilla (1-0) defeat JoAnna Espinosa (0-1) by majority decision after four rounds.
