Evander Holyfield suspended by New York State Athletic Commission
As reported by Thomas Hauser at Secondsout.com, the New York State Athletic Commission has suspended Evander Holyfield indefinitely for “poor performance.”
It reflects the belief in boxing that one of boxing's greatest warriors appears to be irretrievably diminished.
Holyfield lost to Larry Donald by wide margins on all 3 judges’ scorecards on Saturday night on Don King’s Battle for Supremacy card at Madison Square Garden. The bout was scored 119-109, 119-109, and 118-109 in favor of Donald.
The suspension is for medical reasons, meaning all members of the Association of Boxing Commissions must honor the suspension.
