ANAHEIM, CA (August 30, 2005) – Pac Man Fever will be running high this Thursday, September 1 at Angels Stadium, when three-time world champion and the pride of the Philippines, MANNY PACQUIAO, throws out the ceremonial first pitch (6:49 P.M. The A's currently have a one game lead over the second place Angels in the exciting American League West Division title race.
Pacquiao, 39-3-2 (30 KOs), has thrown knuckleballs throughout his entire pro career en route to titles as the WBC flyweight champion, the IBF junior featherweight champion, and The Ring magazine featherweight champion.
Pacquiao, who is training in Hollywood with Freddie Roach, will take on Hector Velazquez, 41-10-2 (30 KOs), for the WBC International super featherweight championship on Saturday, September 10, at Staples Center. Pacquiao will headline the card with three-time world champion Erik Morales, 48-2 (34 KOs), who will be fighting 1996 U.S. Olympian Zahir Raheem, 26-1 (18 KOs), in a 12-round WBC International lightweight title rumble. Both fights will be televised live on HBO. Victories by Pacquiao and Morales will lead to a rematch of their exciting March 19, 2005 PPV rumble, won by Morales via a narrow 12-round decision.
