Fernando Guerrero Blasts Out Michael Walker On ShoBox
Fernando Guerrero gave his hometown friends and neighbors good bang for the buck in the main event at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland, against Michael Walker. Seems like referee Malik Waleed really wanted to give the fans more than their moneys worth, as he let Walker absorb tons of shots in the second. The ringside physician, in fact, hopped into the ring to tell the ref that Walker was done for the evening, on a card televised by Showtime on ShoBox.
Guerrero (17-0 entering; age 23; from Salisbury, Maryland ) was 160 pounds, while Walker (19-3 entering; age 31; from Chicago) was 161.
In the first, Guerrero teed off. The lefty stands flat footed and squares up a lot. But Walker didnt take advantage in the opener. He came out angrier in the second, and tried to bull Guerrero. No deal–the hometowner launched missiles while Walker was trapped in a corner. The ref looked hard, for twenty seconds, as the loser refused to answer, or hold. The doctor actually stepped up to stop the clash, at 1:49 of two.
Shawn Porter (age 22; 158 1/2) came out smoking on overweight Raul Pinzon (161 pounds), usually a welterweight. He hammered Pinzon to the body, stalked relentlessly, and dropped the loser with a mega right. The time of the ending in the first: 2:39, via ten count kayo. Porter, from Ohio, raises his record to 14-0. Pinzon is 17-5.
