Rest In Peace, John Arum
The body of John Arum, the 49-year-old son of boxing promoter Bob Arum, was found on Friday afternoon on Storm King mountain near Seattle, a North Cascades National Park spokeswoman announced.
The Canadian Press reported that personnel in a search helicopter saw the lifeless body of the experienced climber, who was an attorney.
The report said experts believe he died from a fall. His family became worried after he didnt return as expected from a solo hike last weekend. A search for the avid outdoorsman, who wanted to climb the 100 tallest peaks in Washington, started Monday.
The Sweet Science sends condolences to his father Bob Arum, his wife Susan, as well as the extended family and friends of John Arum.
To those who knew John, please feel free to leave a fond remembrance.
Here follows a note sent out by the Arum family on Saturday:
The family of John Arum would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shared their concern with us during this tragic time.
John was a very special person. A wonderful husband, son, brother and friend, John meant so much, to so many. He was so loved and we miss him already.
First, we would like to thank the National Park Service, Chelan Mountain Rescue, Stehekin Community and the King County Sheriff’s Office for its tireless efforts in conducting aerial and ground searches over steep and difficult terrain throughout the week. They refused to give up on their search for John despite the conditions and they were a constant source of comfort and information to us.Their dedication to their mission was awe-inspiring and we will remember them for that forever.
And to everyone from around the world who has reached out to us with prayers and messages of support, please know you have helped sustain us during this most difficult time. You have touched our souls.
Thank you again.
Love,
The Arum Family

Arums firm, Ziontz, Chestnut, Varnell, Berley & Slonim, sent out a release after his death.
We were devastated to learn of the death of our partner, John Arum, in a tragic accident while climbing in the North Cascades. John was a brilliant lawyer who was extraordinarily devoted to his clients and the public interest. He was one of Washingtons premier environmental lawyers, achieving major successes in litigation to protect and preserve natural resources, often working pro bono. He was also a phenomenal Indian tribal attorney, developing close personal relationships during epic struggles on behalf of tribal clients. John had the great respect and affection of his partners, associates, and staff as well as counsel who worked with him. His clients deeply valued his advice and friendship.
John was also an avid outdoorsman. We take some comfort knowing he died doing what he loved. We send our deepest sympathies to his wife Susan, his parents and siblings, the rest of his family, and his many friends and colleagues.
