Brooklyn Boxing Event Postponed Because Of Impending Snow
Brooklyn, New York (January 11, 2011) – Due to a pending snow storm in the New York metropolitan area, “Brooklyn Explosion” promoted by Maureen Shea's Pandora Promotions and Global Boxing will be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 19, with the Masonic Temple in Brooklyn remaining the venue. All tickets purchased for the original date of January 13 will be honored on the 19th.
The main event, featuring the first ever all-female main event in New York City history pitting top rated super bantamweight Alicia “Slick” Ashley of Brooklyn, New York and Crystal Hoy of Las Vegas, will remain the same as well, giving boxing fans something to look forward to once they dig themselves out from the snow.
In the co-featured bout, former Israeli Navy Crew Commander Eilon Kedem (11-4-4, 7 KO) of Brooklyn, NY by way of Herzelia, Israel will face Mexican warrior Jose “Chilli” Rivera (2-2-1) of New Rochelle, New York in a six round super bantamweight fight.
Former World Combat League mixed martial arts heavyweight Armin “The Bosnian Prince” Mrkanovic of Queens, NY by way of Bosnia plans to show that he can be a star in two sports as he makes his professional boxing debut against Sharieff Hayes (0-1) of Phoenix, AZ in a four round bout. A kickboxing specialist, Mrkanovic made the seamless transition to boxing, making it to the New York Golden Gloves finals twice.
Lightweight Scott “Bang Bang” Burrell (1-0, 1 KO) of Brooklyn, NY by way of London, England will face Raul Rivera (0-3) of Philadelphia, PA in a four round bout. Burrell, who made his pro debut last month with a second round knockout win, has a twin brother Deano who is also a professional boxer. Burrell was born in New York and is of Jamaican heritage, but was raised in England.
Puerto Rican amateur star Eduardo Ayuso will make his pro debut against Ohio's Kevin Walker in a four round junior middleweight contest.
Cruiserweights Nicholas Lavine (1-0, 1 KO) of Yonkers, NY and light heavyweight Ahmad Mickens (1-0-1) of Brooklyn, NY round out the card.
The Masonic Temple is located at 317 Clemont Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
