Prospect Seth MItchell Fights Hector Ferreyro on Friday
On Friday night, September 16, 2011, undefeated heavyweight boxer Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell will open the “Star Power” weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mitchell will fight in the main event of a boxing card at the Dallas Events Center, located in the Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel. Mitchell’s fight will be televised on Fox Sports Net at 10:30pm ET and can also be seen on Telefutura at 11:30pm ET. Mitchell’s fight card will take place the night before the WBC title fight between Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz and is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions. The Dallas Events Center is located at 2101 Texas Star Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89032, approximately nine miles from the Las Vegas strip.
Seth Mitchell (Brandywine, Maryland, 22-0-1, 16 KOs) is scheduled to fight against Hector “Hurricane” Ferreyro (Laredo, Texas, 21-10-2, 12 KOs), in a 10-round bout. Mitchell, a former Maryland high school football All-American and Michigan State University football standout, has knocked out nine of his last ten opponents.
On May 13, 2011, Mitchell made his Showtime television debut and defeated Evans Quinn in a 10-round bout. In the opening round of the fight, Mitchell sent his opponent to the canvas with a combination of an overhand right and a series of body shots. Quinn did not answer the count from referee Joe Cortez, giving Mitchell the victory, by knockout, at 2:38 of round one. Mitchell was originally scheduled to fight on August 27, 2011, in San Jose, California, but the entire fight card was cancelled when an injury occurred to one of the main event boxers, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.
Mitchell said, “I’m in great shape. I’m looking forward to being showcased on television in the main event. I want to look impressive and put on a good show for my fans.”
Mitchell’s boxing trainer, Andre Hunter said, “We approach all opponents in the same way, no matter who they are. Seth has been training for a long time for this fight and has been working very hard. In boxing, opponents can change, so we prepare for boxers that fight on the inside, the outside movers, counter-punchers, and big bangers. Ferreyro has been boxing professionally for ten years, so we must respect his experience. That way, we will stay on our game plan and be ready for him.”
Mitchell’s boxing manager, Sharif Salim, said, “Seth Mitchell is coming off of his longest wait period in between bouts, yet he has benefited from his best training camp. Seth is poised, eager and enthusiastically looking forward to taking it to veteran Hector Ferreyro from the sound of the first bell. We are anticipating stiff competition in the next coming months, yet Seth is keenly aware that he has to take care of business first on September 16th. I understand that Hector calls himself ‘the Hurricane.’ Well, that hurricane will be going up against ‘Mayhem’ on Friday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.”
Tickets for Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell’s fight on September 16, 2011, are priced at $50 and $25 and may be purchased at the Texas Station Rewards Center or on online at www.stationcasinos.com/concerts.
