Golovkin To Support Rousey at UFC 157
BIG BEAR, CA (February 19, 2013) WBA/IBO Middleweight World Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin will head to UFC 157 this Saturday, FEBRUARY 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California to support Ronda Rousey, UFC Bantamweight World Champion.
Golovkin and Rousey have both trained at The Summit Training Facility in Big Bear, California and have shared a mutual admiration of their shared excellence within their given sports.
“She’s an incredible athlete, I watched her a few times while she was training in the gym for her boxing skills. Her discipline towards her sport shows why she is one of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world” said Golovkin. “I’m very excited to watch her fight live, it will be my first time ever at a UFC event.”
Golovkin is preparing for his seventh world title defense against Japanese contender Nobuhiro Ishida on Saturday, MARCH 30 in Monte Carlo, one of the premiere cities in the world. Golovkin is the undefeated WBA/IBO middleweight champion and holds the distinction of having the highest knockout percentage of any active boxing world champion.
“Gennady has a true appreciation for Ronda’s unique skills. She has become one of the most talked about fighters in the mixed martial arts world. Gennady has achieved similar success in the sport of boxing,” said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions.
