Kathy Duva Just Laughs When Told Adonis Says He Wants Kovalev-Hopkins Winner
So, Kathy Duva, you heard that Adonis Stevenson will be ringside Nov. 8 in AC, watching the (WBO champ) Sergey Kovalev-Bernard Hopkins (IBF and WBA champ) clash, as a more than merely interested party, that the Canadian hitter is saying he wants winner, after he deals with a WBC mandatory defense?
Thought, Ms. Duva?
“Hahahahah,” she answered, with relish.
No, seriously…are you feeling like he’s just posturing?
“Seriously? You have to ask if he is posturing? There is really no point in even entertaining the question of whether or not a Kovalev-Stevenson fight can be made at this point. Adonis should worry about winning his next fight. And I promise. Winning his own next fight is the only thing on Sergey’s mind right now.”
Stevenson promoter Yvon Michel tells me that there is no mirth inherent in the Stevenson promise to appear Nov. 8, and get the winner.
“This is the goal, after having taking care of the mandatory,” Michel told me. Oh, and who will that be? “Jean Pascal,” he answered. (More on Pascal right here.)
We shall see how this arc plays out…
