Malignaggi Fighting May 29 vs. Danny O’Connor
He didn’t like how it went last time out, and though he knows there are more yesterdays in his fighting world than tomorrows, at least when it comes to his in-the-ring work, Paul Malignaggi, isn’t ready to exit the stage.
He’s 34, and was handled by Shawn Porter when he last gloved up, on April 19, 2014. That TKO4 loss was hard to handle, physically for sure. He was throwing up after, had to go to the hospital, make sure the brain trauma wasn’t so severe.
But he’s a fighter–duh–and he won’t leave the game on that note. Thus, Paulie, regarded as among the best at on TV analysis, is giving it another go, May 29, against Danny O’Connor, at Barclays Center in his native Brooklyn.
That event is topped by a 140 pound showdown between Brit ace Amir Khan and Long Islander Chris Algieri, so local pride and fans from the region will be making a splash on that fight night. The 33-6 scrapper, who holds only 7 Kos to his credit, hasn’t let his brittle hands keep him from achieving; he won crowns at 140 and 147, and is a stubborn lad, who won’t acknowledge that his time on the fighting stage is past tense. O’Connor is 25-2, debuted in 2008, and makes Massachusetts his home, so we should get a bit of NY vs. Bahston spark in the air May 29. SPIKE will show the tangle.
