MSG To Screen ESPN “30 for 30” Films
MSG NETWORK ANNOUNCES “30 FOR 30” SYNDICATION DEAL
WITH ESPN FILMS
“30 FOR 30: NO MAS”
PREMIERES SUNDAY, JUNE 22 AT 10PM
New York, NY (June 18, 2014) – MSG Network has licensed select titles from ESPN Film’s award-winning 30 for 30 series to add to its summer programming schedule. The first documentary, 30 for 30: No Mas, will premiere Sunday, June 22 at 10:00 p.m., with additional titles telecasting on MSG Network throughout the summer, including The House of Steinbrenner and Bernie and Ernie. This arrangement is part of a larger multi-year licensing deal with ESPN that will grant MSG Network access to series and documentaries from the global sports network.
Below is the current schedule of 30 for 30 documentaries premiering now through August on MSG Network:
June 22, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: No Mas
An inside look at the two boxing matches between Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran from June 20, 1980 and the November 25, 1980 rematch, with insight from boxing experts, family members and the two fighters themselves.
July 13, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: The House of Steinbrenner
The legacy of George Steinbrenner’s ownership of the New York Yankees.
July 20, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: Small Potatoes – Who Killed The USFL
Fresh interviews and archival footage track the life and demise of the United States Football League in the mid-1980s.
July 27, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: Silly Little Game
Meeting at New York City’s La Rotisserie Francaise restaurant in 1980, a group of writers and academics develop Rotisserie Fantasy baseball, only to see it take off in popularity and leave them behind.
August 3, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: Free Spirits
The story of the colorful figures who made up the American Basketball Association’s Spirits of St. Louis.
August 10, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: Big Shot
The story of how John Spano attempted to purchase the New York Islanders.
August 17, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: Bernie and Ernie
The friendship of New York basketball legends, Bernard King and Ernie Grunfeld as well as their time together playing college basketball at Tennessee, a partnership known as the “Ernie and Bernie Show.”
August 24, 10:00 p.m. – 30 for 30: This Is What They Want
The story of a 39-year-old Jimmy Connors and his extraordinary underdog run at the 1991 U.S. Open.
