Jean Pascal Waiting For Adonis Stevenson To Step To the Line
The light heavyweight division could get another boost of buzz if a talked about scrap which it seems like lots of people want occurs.
Greg Leon, the manager of Jean Pascal, the 29-2-1 hitter from Haiti residing in Canada, tells me he’s totally keen to make a Pascal-Adonis Stevenson fight ASAP, before the end of the year.
“A fight with Adonis for Jean is option one, two and three,” Leon told me.
Adonis was planning a Sept. 27 date, but that was scratched. Hopefully because this event, which would far and away be the stiffest test ever for Stevenson, is in the firm-foundation heading towards completion stage. “If it doesn’t happen, it’s because Team Stevenson doesn’t want it,” said Leon, as he packed for a camping trip with his son, which no doubt will be spiced with some serious cell time, as this scrap hopefully gets hammered out. “Stevenson is the top choice. If that doesn’t happen, then we’ll talk to the networks, see who is approvable, and go from there,” said Leon, who is also CEO of Pascal Promotions. “If we have to do a show ourselves, we can do that too.”
The former WBC light heavyweight champ Pascal, who holds two wins over Adrian Diacanou and Chad Dawson, last time out handled Lucian Bute (UD12) with ease, on January 18. Stevenson, handled by Al Haymon, which could muddy the mix somewhat, but we hope does not, last fought in May. The 36-year-old won a UD12 over Andrzej Fonfara, and now sports a 24-1 (2Os) record.
