Rumor Mill Says Tim Bradley Vs. Brandon Rios In the Works
The mill is grinding, once again. We’re hearing that Tim Bradley is going to tangle with Brandon Rios, Nov. 7, in Los Angeles.
That scrap, featuring members of the Top Rank crew, would be much anticipated, being that Bradley impressed mightily in his last tangle, vs. Jessie Vargas, and Rios, it seems, is dialed into training, doing 5 AM road-work, and but of course has a personality which makes him must see.
I presume HBO would televise this pitting off A grade names…
I reached out to Bradley, and a Rios contact to verify and didn’t hear back.
Rios’ trainer, Robert Garcia, told me Tuesday night he hadn’t heard that, but hadn’t been in contact with Rios manager Cameron Dunkin in a few weeks, so he was out of that loop.
“I’ve been very busy training Mikey (Garcia, his brother) and a young fighter who is fighting in LA Friday,” he told me.
Oh, and while we are at it, we think it possible that a Walters versus Yuriorkis Gamboa clash gets made. Walters, a Top Rank ace, was on track to tangle with Vasyl Lomachenko, but his weight class is up in the air. Gamboa, who was with 50 Cent, who exited the space, at around 130 pounds would make sense, as Walters needs a step up scrap and the Cuban has a name, and has faded to the point where he’d be seen as a steppingstone.
Fans, if that one gets made, who you like? Bradley I think is the favorite…But what say you? And what about Walters versus Gamboa? TALK TO ME!
