Fantasy Springs Casino Quick Results For Feb 6th
Fantasy Springs Casino – Randy Caballero and Frankie Gomez, rising stars in the Golden Boys Promotions stable, kept their unbeaten records intact in the featured bouts of an 8-bout card staged before a full house at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, on Feb. 5. The fights aired on Estrella TV in the United States.
Caballero, a former IBF bantamweight champion who lost his title on the scales, advanced to 23-0 (14 KOs) with a TKO 7 over Cancun’s Ruben Garcia (now 15-2-1). Caballero, who had the crowd in his corner – he hails from the nearby California desert community of Coachella – had Garcia down in the sixth round and twice more in the seventh before Garcia’s corner threw in the towel between rounds seven and eight. The bout was contested at the catchweight figure of 124 pounds.
Frankie Gomez, from East Los Angeles, won a lopsided 10-round decision over Mexican journeyman Silverio Ortiz in the co-feature. Gomez improved to 20-0 (13 KOs); Ortiz declined to 34-17. This bout also had a catchweight tag: 145 pounds.
In undercard fights of note, featherweight Michael Santomauro advanced to 13-0 (1 KO) with a unanimous 6-round decision over Jose Estrella (14-9-1) and Neeco Macias improved to 11-0 (6 KOs) at the expense of 41-year-old Paul Mpendo (8-13-4). The match was stopped after the fifth frame.
In one of the evening’s four round bouts, Shane Mosley Jr. ran his record to 5-1 with a unanimous decision win over Azamat Umarzoda.
Before the fights, Shane Mosley Sr. conducted a meet and greet with the public.
